President Benigno S. Aquino III led the 70th anniversary of the Araw ng Kagitingan in Pilar, Bataan. He was accompanied by Japanese Ambassador to the Philippines Toshinao Urabe and United States Deputy Chief of Mission Leslie Bassett during the wreath laying ceremony at the Dambana ng Kagitingan. A simultaneous flag raising and commemorative rites were also replicated in different regions honoring the heroic act of our Filipino World War II veterans.

In his speech, the President cited the improved health care being implemented at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC) subsidizing 599 hospitals as its regional and provincial extensions, effectively serving the veterans nationwide.
