President Benigno S. Aquino III welcomed Malaysian facilitator Abdul Ghafar Tenku Mohamed during a courtesy call in Malacañang.
Accompanied by Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP) Secretary Teresita Deles and Government’s Peace Panel Chair Professor Miriam Coronel-Ferrer, President Aquino congratulated them for their success with the recent signing of the last four annexes to the GPH-MILF Framework Agreement on the Bangsamoro (FAB) held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
With the completion of the four annexes on normalisation and addendum on Bangsamoro waters, which serves as a vital juncture of the peace negotiation, representatives from the Government and Moro Islamic Liberation Front can now proceed on the crafting of the Bangsamoro Basic Law that would pave the way to complete the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro.
Malaysia had been the third party facilitator of the peace talks since 2004.
Also present during the call were Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa, Presidential Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda and Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Jesus Yabez.
