President Benigno S. Aquino III conferred the Order of Sikatuna with the rank of Grand Officer (Maringal na Lakan) to Honorary Consul General Mohamad Wassim Nanaa of the Philippine Honorary Consulate in Aleppo, Syria.

President Aquino recognized the Honorary Consul General for his vital contributions in promoting and protecting the welfare of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in Syria. He was also cited for his efforts in repatriating hundreds of OFWs who were affected by the ongoing conflict. Moreover, he was honored for his consistent efforts in bringing Syria closer to the Filipino nation.

Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario and delegates from the Philippine Honorary Consulate in Aleppo were also present during the conferment.
