President Benigno S. Aquino III accepted the credentials of His Excellency Philip Goldberg as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Philippines. He replaced former Ambassador Harry K. Thomas, Jr.
Before assuming his position, he had served other positions such as Charge d’Affaires and Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM) at the U.S. Embassy in Santiago, Chile; Chief of Mission in Pristina, Kosovo and Ambassador to Bolivia. He also became the Assistant Secretary of State for Intelligence and Research (INR) on February 16, 2010 where he led one of 16 elements in the U.S. Intelligence Community (IC).
