Tacloban City, Leyte, Ormoc and Roxas City, Capiz

President Benigno S. Aquino III visited the cities in the Visayas region which are badly-hit by Typhoon Yolanda on Sunday morning.
The President left Villamor Air Base around 8:40 a.m. for Tacloban City, Leyte to distribute relief packs to families displaced by the typhoon. After the distribution, he attended a status briefing at the Tactical Command Center.
He also visited Roxas City in Capiz and inspected the extent of damage in the area. He distributed relief goods in Barangay Culasi and was briefed by members of the Provincial Disaster and Risk Reduction Management Council (PDRRMC) at the Capiz Provincial Capitol.
The President was joined by National Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin, Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas, Social Welfare and Development Secretary Corazon “Dinky” Soliman, Public Works and Highways Secretary Rogelio “Babes” Singson, Energy Secretary Jericho Petilla, Transportation and Communications Secretary Joseph Emilio Abaya and Cabinet Secretary Jose Rene Almendras.
Typhoon Yolanda (international name: Haiyan) is considered to be the largest and most devastating typhoon in the world this 2013. It made its first landfall in Guiuan, Eastern Samar with maximum sustained winds of at least 235 km/h near the center and gusts of up to 275 km/h. Typhoon Yolanda also had four more landfalls in Leyte, Northern Cebu, Bantayan Island and Panay.
