State Visit of President Benigno S. Aquino III
to the Republic of Korea
17-18 October 2013

President Benigno S. Aquino III embarked on a state visit to South Korea upon the invitation of President Park Geun-hye from October 17 to 18, 2013.

In Seoul, the two leaders discussed for the first time common bilateral issues like political, defense, economic and development cooperation, as well as regional and international challenges that both countries may face.

The two-day state visit consisted of meetings with Korea’s leading companies and an interaction with the Filipino community in Seoul.

President Aquino also spoke before the South Korean business community to promote further trade and investments in the Philippines, at the same time, lure big companies in making the country their investment hub.

The Philippine-South Korean relations started in August 1949. The Philippine Expeditionary Force to Korea (PEFTOK) joined the United Nations-led coalition in defending South Korea during the Korean War in 1950.
