The Peninsula Manila, Makati City
12 March 2013

President Benigno S. Aquino III graced the Euromoney Philippine Investment Forum 2013 held at The Peninsula Manila in Makati City.

In his speech, the President encouraged business leaders, economists and key overseas investors present to partner in the rising Philippine economy particularly in the agriculture, tourism and infrastructure sectors.

According to President Aquino, agriculture remains to be one of the administration’s priorities and the country is regaining its footing in the export market by exporting 100 metric tons of high quality rice in 2013. Also, the heavily invested tourism industry opens opportunities to hotel or real estate investors as there is a need for an additional 37,000 hotel rooms despite the great number of hotel inaugurations this year. For infrastructure and rehabilitation, two major projects have been opened which are the Cavite-Laguna Expressway and the NLEX-SLEX link connector road.

“We are inviting you to come to the Philippines whether in these three sectors, or in others, because we know that, here, hard work, innovation, and creativity are rewarded with success. This is not an empty promise: you will have the Filipino people and our administration as committed partners,” he added.

Euromoney is the world’s largest organizer of conferences for cross-border investment and capital markets.
