President Benigno S. Aquino III recognized the invaluable contributions of the Tahanang Walang Hagdanan (TWH) Inc. in uplifting the conditions of the Persons with Disability (PWD) through its livelihood projects during its 40th anniversary celebration.

He also led the awarding ceremony of five PWDs that have exhibited exemplary performance in their fields of work by conferring the Inspiring Role Model Award to Domingo D. Literal for winning the gold medal in Personal Computer Assembly during the 12th TESDA Regional and National Skills Competition, the Professional Advancement Award to Rex Bernardo for his outstanding professional and social achievements, the Sports Achiever award to Adeline Dumapong-Ancheta for being the only Filipino Paralympic medalist, Advocacy Achiever award to Dr. Enrique ‘Ike’ Ampo for being the Outstanding Alumnus Awardee given by the Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan Alumni Association, and Entrepreneurship Award to Edward Delos Santos for being awarded the Outstanding Citizen of Baguio City. A posthumous award was also given to the family of Engineer Felix Gonzalez to commemorate his 20 years of volunteer service in TWH.

“Hindi hadlang ang anumang kalagayan o estado para makagawa ng makabuluhang pagbabago basta’t tinutumbasan ng gawa ang nakatatak sa puso’t isipan, pihadong maaabot and anumang inaasam,” the President said.

He also assured them that the government will continue its efforts to improve the conditions of the Filipinos in the PWD sector.

During his visit, President Aquino toured and inspected the woodworks, packaging and metal craft facilities in TWH.

Founded on February 21, 1973 by Sr. Valeriana Baerts, a Belgian missionary, TWH is a non-profit organization that offers rehabilitation and skills training center with sheltered workshops to train persons with disability to be productive and self-reliant.
