“Wala nang hihigit pa sa sakripisyong ipinamalas ng mga bayaning ginugunita natin ngayon. Inialay nila ang sariling buhay para sa kapayapaan at kalayaan ng bayan,” remarked President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. during the commemoration of the 83rd Araw ng Kagitingan (Day of Valor) at the Dambana ng Kagitingan in Mount Samat National Shrine, Pilar, Bataan.

In his speech, President Marcos Jr. emphasized that the event serves not only as a tribute to those who fought in the Battle of Bataan but also as a moment to honor all who have selflessly given their lives for the country’s peace and freedom.

He described the commemoration as a meaningful gathering to honor the profound sacrifices made by Filipino soldiers, police officers, firefighters and other frontliners who tirelessly ensure the safety and order of the nation.

“We celebrate the future that we will bring – we will put together, keeping in mind the lessons that we have learned over the many years. And we will continue to celebrate that every single day,” the Chief Executive stated.

Furthermore, he underscored that heroism extends beyond the battlefield, manifesting in quiet, everyday acts of courage by ordinary Filipinos who face crises with resilience and compassion.

The President also called for peace that is inclusive and honorable — one that involves the active participation of all parties. He expressed concern that many parts of the world have yet to learn this lesson but conveyed hope for a future shaped by unity and understanding.

“These are the things that we celebrate today. These are the lessons that were hard-earned. And these are the lessons that we now apply to our lives. And these in hand, these will bring us to a brighter future,” President Marcos Jr. concluded in his speech.
