President Benigno S. Aquino III graced the 76th birthday celebration of Brother Mariano “Mike” Velarde, founder and servant leader of the Catholic charismatic religious group El Shaddai, held at the Amvel Business Park in Parañaque City.
For more than three decades of being the head of El Shaddai, Brother Mike, according to the President, continues to promote strong faith and serves as an inspiration to millions of Filipinos. The movement, on the other hand, gives hope to the people and remains one with the administration in its calling to do the right and just, making the government more encouraged and confident to continue traveling on the ‘right path.’
“Sa lahat ng pagkakataon, tinatawag tayong magsakripisyo at maglingkod sa ating kapwa, bansa, at higit sa lahat, sa ating Panginoon. Kung ang bawat isa sa atin ay handa laging labanan ang mali at ang mga tiwali; kung ang bawat isa sa atin, uunahin ang interes ng mas nakakarami kaysa sarili; tiyak na lalo pang lalago ang mga naipunla natin,” President Aquino added.
In conjunction with Brother Mike’s birthday, El Shaddai also celebrated its 31st year anniversary. Manila Auxiliary Bishop Teodoro Bacani serves as its spiritual director.
