President Rodrigo Roa Duterte held his 5th Cabinet meeting at the Aguinaldo State Dining Room in Malacañang.

The meeting focused on the proposed utilization of the Sangley Point Airport to decongest the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA); the rationalization of government agencies by the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) and the Civil Service Commission (CSC); the tax reform strategy by the Department of Finance (DOF); the President’s participation in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit 2016 in Laos and in the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in Peru; and the country’s hosting of the ASEAN Summit in 2017.

Also tackled during the meeting were updates on the interment of the late President Ferdinand Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani, and the 2017 budget deliberations in Congress by DBM Secretary Benjamin Diokno.

Lastly, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) presented its Memorandum Circular titled “Supplemental Guidelines on the Implementation of Protective Services Program.”

Besides the Cabinet secretaries, former President Fidel V. Ramos joined the meeting.
