President Benigno S. Aquino III witnessed the 5th anniversary celebration of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines held in Pasay City.
In his speech, the President expressed his appreciation to CAAP’s efforts in improving findings on Philippine aviation and in making certain that the country will regain its foot after being downgraded from Category 1 to Category 2 rating which prevents domestic airlines from expanding flights to and from the United States.
The Philippines is expecting to bring back its previous rating as the International Civil Aviation Organization lifted its restrictions following the country’s compliance with global safety standards.
“Today, we are in the business of revival. And so far, the CAAP leadership, together with all those working earnestly for this agency, has not let us down,” he said.
Joining President Aquino were Transportation and Communications Secretary Joseph Emilio Abaya and CAAP Director-General William Hotchkiss III.
