“As an agricultural nation, the Philippines is a major exporter of coconut oil and other products… We are thus in a prime position to harness this advantage to develop this crucial sector for the benefit of our economy and our people,” President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. asserted as he recognized the significant role of the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) in strengthening the country’s coconut industry that continues to provide Filipino farmers a source of livelihood that transcends generations.

Speaking before the 50th Founding Anniversary of PCA, the President urged the Agency to intensify the implementation of the Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Plan (CFIDP) in order to accelerate the modernization of the coconut industry and improve the lives of coconut farmers.

He reaffirmed the Administration’s commitment in formulating policies to redevelop plans of improving the industry so that the Philippines remains as one of the biggest exporters of coconut products in the world.

“I encourage the PCA to continue uplifting the lives of our coconut farmers and empower them to improve their conditions, break free from the chains of poverty and dream bigger for themselves and for their loved ones,” he conveyed.

The CFIDP is an initiative under the Department of Agriculture (DA) through the PCA that aims to increase the income and productivity of over 2.5 million coconut farmers and rehabilitate the Philippine coconut industry.

The Chief Executive also lauded the PCA for five decades of strong efforts in developing a united, efficient and globally competitive coconut industry that serves as a major driver of a robust economy.

“We are reminded of the valued history of the PCA and the challenges it has withstood to get to where it is today. So together, let us usher in a new era of progress by leveraging the power of coconut to build a better, self-sufficient and prosperous country,” President Marcos Jr. remarked.
