President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. convened with key members from the Senate and House of Representatives (HOR) to discuss various common legislative agenda (CLA) during the 4th Legislative Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC) Meeting at the State Dining Room in Malacañan Palace.

Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri and House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, together with the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), reported that there are 57 proposed CLA since the start of the 19th Congress under the Marcos Administration, 14 of which have already been passed into law.

Last year, the Senate and HOR deliberated and discussed 20 priority bills wherein 7 of these have been enacted into law by the end of December 2023. NEDA further added that there are remaining measures to be passed which are instrumental in boosting economic growth in the country.

These include the creation of Department of Waters, Academic Recovery and Accessible Learning (ARAL) Program Act, the CREATE MORE (Maximize Opportunities for Reinvigorating the Economy) Bill, National Apprenticeship Program, Open Access in Data Transmission Act and Amendments to the Universal Health Care Act, among others.

The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) also provided updates on the country’s national budget for Fiscal Year (FY) 2024 worth PhP5.768 trillion, which is crucial to the realization of the identified priority bills. According to the DBM, this is a solid testament on the enhanced cooperation between the Executive and Legislative branches of the government in delivering services to the Filipino people.
