President Benigno S. Aquino III graced the closing ceremony of the 40th Philippine Business Conference (PBC) and Exposition where he received the PBC resolutions and roadmap formulated in the three-day business conference.
In his message, the President affirmed areas that need improvement identified in the joint resolution and roadmap submitted to him, adding that the government is equally keen to solve issues mentioned in the resolution. These include the formulation of an integrated and sustainable energy and power development roadmap and the issues surrounding the port congestion which, he said, the government is working hard to address both issues.
The President also expressed his gratitude on the invaluable role the private sector played in the economic resurgence of the Philippines.
“Without the innovation it takes to nurture the growth of business, without your support for reform agenda and without your confidence in the Filipino people, we certainly would not have been able to come so far along the straight path to progress,” he said, adding that collaboration between industries and government is the key to achieve inclusive growth.
PBC Chairman George Barcelon, who presented the 40th PBC Resolution to President Aquino, together with Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Alfred M. Yao, Federation of the Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Inc. (FFCCCII) President Dr. Alfonso Sy and Philtrust Bank Chairman and President Jaime C. Laya, lauded the President for the economic resurgence and growth the country achieved in line with the President’s anti-corruption drive.
With this year’s theme: “Proudly Pinoy: Partnering Towards Sustained Growth”, the event laid down the roadmap that will strategically position Philippine industries and enterprises to seize the global market as it moves towards the ASEAN integration.
