On the second day of the 33rd Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit and Related Summits in Singapore, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte convened with his fellow ASEAN Leaders and President Vladimir Putin of the Russian Federation for the 3rd ASEAN-Russia Summit.

In his opening remarks, ASEAN Chairman Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong of Singapore conveyed that the ASEAN and the Russian Federation have been working together in a broad range of areas such as political, economic, and socio-cultural cooperation, among others.

He added that the Russian Federation has actively participated in ASEAN-led fora such as the ASEAN Ministers’ Meeting (AMM) Plus and the East Asia Summit (EAS). He also stressed that the 3rd ASEAN-Russia Summit is timely and significant as it reaffirmed the commitment to further strengthen ties between the ASEAN and Russia.
