Water Loss 2012, the world’s premier water loss conference, formally opens today with President Benigno S. Aquino III as its keynote speaker. The Philippines is the first Asian country to host this international conference. Organized by the International Water Association (IWA) and co-hosted by Manila Water Company, Inc. (Manila Water) and Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad). Water Loss 2012 is the sixth event in a series of IWA water loss reduction specialty conferences, following the successful Water Loss 2010 that was held in Sao Paulo, Brazil in June 2010.
More than 500 delegates from 53 countries attended this year’s conference. Water Loss experts from 30 countries will also be presenting technical papers on the latest trends, developments, strategies, techniques and applications of international best practices in NRW management.
Water Loss 2012 was held at the EDSA Shangri-La Hotel in Mandaluyong City. According to President Aquino, water is a strategic resource, too much of it or too little of it will affects the economy.
