President Benigno S. Aquino III honored the members of the Presidential Security Group (PSG) when he led its 29th founding anniversary held at the Malacañang Park.

“Dahil sa inyo, talagang nagawa ko ang aking tungkulin nang hindi iniisip ang aking kaligtasan,” he said.

Expressing his ‘peace of mind’ in his message, President Aquino assured his security staff that the government will always secure and improve their welfare and the lives of their families. “Napakalaki ng ginagampanan ninyong tungkulin, tinitiyak ko sa inyong nakaalalay kami sa lahat ng inyong gawain,” he said.

Among the notable achievements of the PSG this year was the Papal Visit in January.  The President said that despite Pope Francis’ eagerness to get closer with the masses, he remained safe and that his visit was truly a successful one.

“Nakita naman ng taumbayan ang husay ng PSG. Ngayon, may makakapagsabi pa bang ‘di kaya ng PSG ang anumang tungkulin?,” the Commander-in-Chief added.

Bearing the theme “Kalasag ng Pangulo: Kaagapay tungo sa Pag-unlad at Malawakang Pagbabago,” the ceremonies included the awarding of honors to five outstanding uniformed and civilian personnel of the PSG and one plaque of recognition to PCSupt. Francisco Balagtas of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
