President Rodrigo Duterte keynoted the 29th Annual National Convention of the Prosecutors’ League of the Philippines (PLP) at Royce Hotel in Clarkfield Freeport Zone, Angeles City, Pampanga.

In his speech, the President told hundreds of PLP members that he would never allow politics to set in while they do their services for the public because it should all be about fairness and merit.

“We can work together and it is gonna be a merit system … stand on your merit,” he said.

President Duterte reiterated the administration’s fight against narco-politics, crime and corruption as he acknowledged the critical role that prosecutors play in the country’s criminal justice system.

During the occasion, President Duterte was given the title of an honorary PLP lifetime member for his services and accomplishments throughout his stint as prosecutor in Davao City from 1977 to 1986. PLP President Danilo DC. Yang also cited the President’s exemplary leadership and for being a staunch advocate for transparency.

Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre III, Prosecutor General Victor Sepulveda and Pampanga Governor Lilia Pineda accompanied the President on stage.

The theme for this year’s convention is “Taga-usig, Kabalikat ng Pangulo Laban sa Droga at Katiwalian”.
