From the Opening Ceremony, President Benigno S. Aquino III and the rest of the ASEAN Heads of State and Government participated in the 27th ASEAN Summit (Plenary) that was held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC).

Malaysia’s chairmanship this year focused on eight priorities that aims to steer a closer relationship among the people of Southeast Asia through its advocacy of creating a truly ‘People-Centered’ ASEAN.

“We wish for ASEAN to be even more powerful vehicle for the realization of our people’s aspirations – good governance, transparency, higher standards of living, sustainable development, further empowerment of women, and greater opportunity for all,” Prime Minister Najib Razak said in his opening remarks.
