Reigniting his passion on motorcycle riding, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte graced the 24th Annual Convention of the National Federation of Motorcycle Clubs of the Philippines (NFMCP) in Legazpi City, Albay.

In a speech before his fellow motorcyclists and invited guests, President Duterte underscored the importance of safety in their chosen hobby. He encouraged the riders “to cultivate the values of camaraderie, brotherhood, and mutual respect within your circle.”

“Do keep in mind that it is not just purely an adventure when you are on the road. I ask you to promote road safety and observing traffic rules, wearing proper protection, and being — ito talaga: alcohol and drug free,” the President said.

“Magprangkahan na lang tayo. Karamihan sa atin, disgrasya, it’s really the intake of alcohol and doing motorcycle at the same time… If you have a family, isipin mo naman ang pamilya mo,” he added.

Likewise, President Duterte urged them to use their passion in the hobby to help promote tourism within the country, saying that this is “an opportunity to be a part of our collective responsibility to foster solidarity and progress in our communities.”

Established in 1995, the NFMCP consists of different motorcycle clubs and individual motorcyclists based in different areas around the country. Every year, the federation organizes a convention in different provinces, with the local motorcycle club hosting the event.

The Bicol Steel Riders, Inc. hosted this federation’s 24th annual convention. A ‘Unity Ride’ highlighted the event, with motorcyclists riding a 50-kilometer trip starting from the Legazpi City Boulevard towards the Misibis Resort in Bacacay, and ending in the Mayon Skyline Park in Tabaco City.
