President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and his counterparts from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) convened with Indian Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi at the 21st ASEAN-India Summit in Vientiane, Lao People’s Democratic Republic.

Speaking at the Summit, President Marcos Jr. expressed the Philippines’ support for reviewing the ASEAN-India Trade in Goods Agreement (AITIGA) to enhance its user-friendliness for businesses, particularly micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

He underscored AITIGA’s significance in reducing trade barriers and expressed hope that India would continue to uphold its agreed provisions.

Additionally, he conveyed his optimism about future cooperation in the digital sector, urging India to promote Technical and Vocational Education and Training within ASEAN and to utilize its strengths as a global pharmaceutical hub.
