The first day of the 2025 Post-State of the Nation Address (SONA) Discussions, featuring a session on Environmental Protection and Disaster Risk Reduction, continued at the Makabagong San Juan National Government Center in San Juan City.
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. vowed in his SONA yesterday that the government, through the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA), will take action against those responsible for poor water service.
In an interview, LWUA Administrator Atty. Jose Moises Salonga shared that they have provided the President with two ‘balikbayan’ boxes of documents containing complaints from clients, as well as the Agency’s findings on water concessionaires or districts failing to deliver service. He assured that LWUA has plans in place to address issues and concerns as quickly as possible, but immediate water distribution to communities remains its top priority.
“I cannot elaborate on the details of the plans and directives, but rest assured that it will happen soon and it will be effective,” the LWUA Administrator said.
“My orders are to bring water to these people, finger-pointing cases can follow or parallel, pero ang una, ang priority natin magkaroon ng tubig sila,” he ended in his message.
The Post-SONA Discussions feature thematic panel discussions organized by key development clusters. It aims to deepen public understanding of national priorities and how these are translated into concrete programs that benefit Filipino communities.
