President Rodrigo Roa Duterte led the awarding ceremonies for this year’s Metrobank Foundation Outstanding Filipinos at the Rizal Hall of Malacañan Palace.
In his message, President Duterte acknowledged the hardships of teachers, soldiers and policemen as they serve and fulfill their duties to the country that is why he has promised from the start to double their salary and provide the necessary weaponry and equipment.
He also extended his deep respect to Metrobank Group Chairman Dr. George S.K. Ty and thanked Metrobank Foundation Inc. (MBFI) President Aniceto Sobrepeña for recognizing the services of workers in government like him.
“I will try to govern this country in parallel with developments, economic and all,” said the President.
Joined by Mr. Sobrepeña and Dr. Ty as lead presenters, President Duterte conferred gold medallions to the 30 winners of MBFI’s three programs: Search for Outstanding Teachers (SOT), The Outstanding Philippine Soldiers (TOPS) and Country’s Outstanding Police Officers in Service (COPS). The awardees are honored and given recognition for their dedication, exemplary work and achievements in their chosen fields.
The 2016 TOPS awardees are composed of four (4) commissioned and six (6) non-commissioned officers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) while the 2016 COPS awardees are also composed of four (4) commissioned and six (6) non-commissioned officers from the Philippine National Police (PNP). Four (4) elementary, four (4) secondary school teachers and two (2) professors from the higher education level composed the SOT awardees this year.
Each awardee also received a cash prize of P500,000.00 and a trophy during the 54th anniversary celebration of Metrobank on September 5, 2016.
