President Benigno S. Aquino III led the inspection of newly painted classrooms, chairs and tables at the Apolinario Mabini Elementary School in Quiapo Manila this afternoon as part of the 2012 Brigada Eskwela project of the Department of Education, where schools are being repaired and refurbished in time for the school opening this June.

The essence of Brigada Eskwela is the spirit of volunteerism and public private partnership for education.  It was inspired by the “Adopt-a-School Act” made in 1998 where private sector companies and professionals can contribute in improving the public education system.
