President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. presided over the first Philippine National Police (PNP) Command Conference at Camp Crame, Quezon City.

PNP Chief Police General Benjamin Acorda Jr. discussed the Organization’s most recent programs, preparations for upcoming major events and ways forward. He provided brief updates on the execution of the President’s directives to the Police, such as the campaign against loose firearms, illegal drug trade, and strategies implemented by the PNP against cybercrimes and other recent cases.

Likewise, the PNP Chief reported the status on the procurement of communications equipment, including tactical radio, digital radio, satellite phone and body-worn cameras. President Marcos Jr. stressed the importance of equipping both the uniformed and civilian personnel of the PNP with good communications system, urging it further to take advantage of the technology which is becoming better and more inexpensive, and to standardize the operability of its communications system and equipment in order to deliver efficient and better services, especially in disaster response and during operations.

Furthermore, security preparations for the voter’s registration and filing of certificates of candidacy (COCs) for the 2025 national elections were in the meeting agenda, as well as other matters such as the PNP’s framework for ‘Bagong Pilipinas’ which is aligned with Chapter 13 of the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2023-2028 to ‘Ensure Peace and Security, and Enhance Administration of Justice’, the PNP’s reorganization and reform bill, among other topics.
