President Rodrigo Roa Duterte called on the officials and members of the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) to stay true to the ruling party’s vision and core agenda during the first founding anniversary of the PDP-Laban Cares that coincided with the PDP-Laban Leaders’ Reunion at the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) Building in Pasay City.

“Let us remain committed to the party’s vision of liberating our people from the clutches of poverty, conflict, crime, illegal drugs and corruption through the promotion of justice, equality and good governance. Together, let us become instruments of real change in society by advancing the PDP-Laban’s core agenda of federalism, preferential partiality for the poor and the marginalized, religious tolerance and equal opportunity for all,” the President said.

He also recognized and lauded PDP-Laban Cares, the ruling party’s humanitarian arm, for providing assistance to the victims of either natural or man-made calamities in the country — carrying out 27 relief operations since it was founded last year.

“In times of disaster, calamity and conflict, PDP-Laban Cares has been among the government’s reliable partners in responding to those in need… no matter how big a problem may seem with the cooperation and a determined spirit, we can overcome any challenges and rise above the adversity with a smile on our faces,” he said.

President Duterte also serenaded the PDP-Laban officials and members with his favorite original Pilipino music (OPM) song entitled ‘Ikaw’ by Martin Nievera.

Among those who joined the President onstage were PDP-Laban Cares Chairperson Kathryna Yu, PDP-Laban President Senator Aquilino ‘Koko’ Pimentel III, and PDP-Laban Secretary General Congressman Pantaleon Alvarez.
