President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., together with his counterparts from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), convened with Secretary of State Antony Blinken of the United States of America (U.S.A.) for the 12th ASEAN-U.S. Summit at the National Convention Centre in Vientiane, Lao People’s Democratic Republic (PDR).

President Marcos Jr. reaffirmed the Philippines’ continued support for initiatives that promote peace, stability and prosperity in the ASEAN region.

Acknowledging the U.S. contributions to ASEAN, the President welcomed initiatives focused on emerging technologies, climate change and maritime security. He also encouraged the implementation of the ASEAN-U.S. Strategic Partnership Plan and expressed support for frameworks related to trade, investment and artificial intelligence (AI).

Furthermore, President Marcos Jr. highlighted actions on climate change and the environment, appreciated the U.S. support for health cooperation and welcomed efforts to enhance economic and cultural engagements with the regional bloc.
