The Ten Accomplished Youth Organizations (TAYO) Awards Foundation, Inc. paid tribute to this year’s outstanding youth groups in the country during the 11th TAYO awarding ceremonies held at the Bonifacio (Heroes) Hall in Malacañang.

The youth organizations that were awarded include the following: Kawil Tours (Culion, Palawan), Tanay Mountaineers (Tanay, Rizal), TC Youth Laboratory Cooperative (Tagum City, Davao del Norte), Volunteer Service Provider- San Pedro College (Davao City), Association of Locally-Empowered Youth-Northern Mindanao (Libertad, Misamis Oriental), Tulong sa Kapwa Kapatid (Payatas, Quezon City), United Architects of the Philippines Student Auxiliary Foundation University Chapter (Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental), Hayag Youth Organization (Ormoc City, Leyte), Gualandi Volunteer Service Program, Inc. (Cebu City) and the University of San Carlos- Pathways (Cebu City) who also received the Jesse Robredo Youth in Local Governance Award and the Project Smart Award, respectively.

The Watershed Management Youth Council (Davao City) received the Rock Ed Hecky Villanueva Award while the Rock Ed Alexis Tioseco Creative Teaching Award was given to the Rescue Assistance Peacekeeping Intelligence Detail (RAPID), Inc. of Cebu City.

Other special awards like the Coke Barkada Award was given to Team BUNDOL Mountaineers (Alabel, Sarangani) and the Jollibee Award went to the MAESTRO Club of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.

In a speech of President Benigno S. Aquino III read by Cabinet Secretary Jose Rene Almendras, he remarked that the TAYO award is also a celebration of the creative and productive spirit of the youth, and of their determination to actively contribute in nation-building.

“Since you have started early, you are already positioning yourselves as a new generation of professionals and public servants who hold a deep understanding of the needs of your communities. This is perhaps what Rizal meant when he said, “the youth is the hope of our motherland”, said the President.

Senator Paolo Benigno ‘Bam’ Aquino, Senator Francis ‘Kiko’ Pangilinan, Coca Cola Philippines president Guillermo Ponte and TAYO Awards Foundation, Inc. president Aika Robredo joined Sec. Almendras during the event.
