President Benigno S. Aquino III challenged the country’s police force to work with him in uplifting the quality and dignity of the Philippine National Police during his attendance to the 112th Police Service anniversary celebration in Camp Crame.
“Tuldukan na natin ang kalakaran ng pagkakanya-kanya. Kasama ninyo ako at ang buong pambansang liderato sa pagtutulak ng pagbabago,” said the President in his keynote speech.
He cited several government investments for the uniformed personnel like the provision of 37,578 Glock 17 9mm pistol units and a housing program. As for the PNP’s Capability Enhancement Program, he announced that the P2.86-billion budget is only the first tranche in a P9-billion modernization fund.
“Kung kasangga natin ang taong-bayan, wala pong tatalo sa atin. Kaya po pag-isipan natin kada araw na tayo ay lalabas sa ating tahanan, magtatrabaho para sa taong-bayan ito, kasama ang taong-bayan, at sila nga ang susi ng ating tagumpay,” President Aquino said in closing.
Together with Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas and PNP Chief Director General Alan Purisima, he also led the awarding ceremonies to several PNP units and personnel for outstanding achievements.
The awardees are the following: Chief Supt. Marcelo Garbo Jr. (Regional Director, National Capital Region Police Office) for outstanding achievement in the field of Police Administration; P02 Webster Liwag (Malolos City Police Office) for outstanding achievements in the field of Police Operations; Police Regional Office 9 for outstanding achievements in the campaign against terrorism, regional level; Highway Patrol Group for outstanding achievements in the campaign against organized crime; and Agusan del Sur Police Provincial Office for outstanding achievements in the campaign against organized crime, provincial level.
For Special Unit Awards, the awardees are: Batangas Police Provincial Office for recording the most number of firearms accounted for during the May 2013 midterm elections; Ilocos Sur Regional Special Operations Task Group (RSOTG) for recording the least number of violent incidents during the May 2013 midterm elections; and Lanao del Sur RSOTG for the most improved security preparations during the May 2013 midterm elections.
