“The SSS has been a bastion of stability to every Filipino in the private sector by empowering them with equitable and world-class protection and ensuring that they will have a safety net during life’s most difficult moments,’ President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. remarked as he lauded the officials and personnel of the Social Security System (SSS) during its 65th anniversary, a milestone that underscored the Institution’s role in nation building through strong social security protection.
With its unwavering dedication and service to Filipinos around the world spanning more than six (6) decades, President Marcos Jr. highlighted the importance and contribution of the SSS in empowering every Filipino worker and their families with efficient membership coverage, enhanced benefits and improved service capabilities.
“You personify the true essence of a government that is, at the end of the day, always ready and reliable, no matter the circumstances,” the President said.
He encouraged every employee to embody excellence and put the best interest of the Filipino people above everything else in their sworn duty. He likewise expressed his gratitude to all partners, as well as members of the SSS for their contribution in the Institution.
“It is only fitting that this year’s theme puts great emphasis on this simple yet important act, as it is through this that the SSS becomes a force that makes a difference in nation building and ensures that every Filipino contributor can reap the benefits of their labor well into the future,” he added.
The Chief Executive also vowed to strengthen the Institution’s effectiveness and assured the SSS of government’s commitment to improve its efficiency and productivity.
With the theme, ‘Kontribusyong Pinag-ipunan, Proteksyong Maaasahan,’ this year’s celebration aims to foster better future through the values of work, save, invest and prosper. To commemorate this milestone, the SSS launched innovative programs to benefit its members, ensure social security coverage for the informal economy workers and help its members save more for their retirement, among others.
Established in 1 September 1957 through the Social Security Act of 1954, the SSS was created to serve as a government financial institution that provides social security protection to all Filipino workers.
