President Rodrigo Roa Duterte conferred a Posthumous Award (Medalya ng Kadakilaan) to each of the six (6) killed-in-police-operation (KIPO) officers during his wake visit at Guihulngan City Hall in Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental.

The slain police officers were SPO2 Necasio Pasculado Tabilon, PO3 Teovic Gador Agosto, PO2 Alvin Paul Alquizola Bulandres, PO2 Alfredo Lastimoso Dunque, P/Supt. Arnel Arpon, and SPO1 Jesael Ancheta. The families of the fallen officers received the award from the President.

In his visit, the President condoled with the bereaved families and extended financial assistance to them.

“We will answer for the education. Every widow of a policeman or a military man, pinapasok ko sa trabaho. Ang edukasyon, kami na magbayad. May trabaho ang asawa tapos I gave them PhP 250,000 plus PhP 20,000 then they will have another PhP 250,000 sa akin lang. So that’s PhP 500,000. The remaining PhP 250,000 will be used to create a livelihood para sa kanilang pamilya,” he said during the media interview after the wake visit.

President Duterte added that the families would undergo small business trainings by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to maximize the financial assistance into livelihood. Furthermore, he said that he enrolled the families to the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) or the Conditional Cash Transfer program of the government.

The police officers were killed in an ambush staged by around sixty (60) armed members of the New People’s Army (NPA) in Barangay Magsaysay, Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental at about 9:50 am on July 21, 2017.
