In line with the Administration’s commitment to stabilizing rice prices, empowering local farmers and ensuring that no Filipino is left behind in progress, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. launched the PhP20/kilo Rice Program at the Zapote Public Market in the City of Bacoor, Cavite.

Upon arrival, the President walked through different areas around the market, including the fruits and vegetables, meat and fish, and dry goods sections wherein he met several vendors and buyers.

Joined by key government officials from the Department of Agriculture (DA), Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) and local government officials, President Marcos Jr. witnessed the actual selling of PhP20/kilo rice to the residents of Bacoor City.

Among the eligible consumers are senior citizens, persons with disabilities (PWDs), solo parents and members of 4Ps (Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program) who are prioritized under the ‘Benteng Bigas Meron Na!’ Program.

A total of 500 sacks of rice are procured by the National Food Authority (NFA) from local farmers and delivered through the DA’s KADIWA ng Pangulo outlet at the Zapote-Bacoor Public Market. The allotment is enough for 2,500 residents to purchase 10 kilos each at the subsidized price of PhP20/kilo. The DA’s Food Terminal, Inc. (FTI) buys the rice from NFA and distributes it through the KADIWA network and other PhP20 program partners.

Following the successful launch, the PhP20/kilo rice is now regularly available at the Zapote-Bacoor Public Market, providing continued relief to everyday consumers in the area.
