President Rodrigo Roa Duterte inspected the large anti-submarine ship, the “Admiral Panteleyev,” anchored at Pier 15 in Port Area, Manila.

Upon arrival, the Russian Navy accorded the President foyer honors. He then boarded the ship together with Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu, Russian Ambassador to the Philippines Igor Khovaev, Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano, Department of National Defense (DND) Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, and Commanding Officer of Admiral Panteleyev Capt. Alexey Antsiferov.

President Duterte witnessed the ceremonial handover of the military-technical equipment by Russia which include 20 Ural model 4320 multi-purpose vehicles, 5,000 AK-74M Kalashnikov assault rifles, 5,000 steel helmets, and 1,000,000 1943-type cartridges with steel core bullets.

He also witnessed the signing of the deed of donation between the Director for Main Department for International Military Cooperation of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation, Major General Aleksandr Kshimovskiy and DND Undersecretary Raymundo Elefante of the Philippines.
