Doha, Qatar
April 11, 2017
Members of the Presidential Advance Party join the authorities of the Hamad International Airport (HIA) for an ocular inspection at the Emiri Terminal in anticipation of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s visit to the State of Qatar on April 14-16, 2017.
Formerly called the Doha International Airport, the HIA set a new international standard for Qatari hospitality when it began passenger operations sometime in 2014. Built right at the corner of the Arabian Gulf, the airport boasts of futuristic architectural elements, having two world-class runways that are known to be among the longest in the world. It also has a state-of-the-art Air Traffic Control Tower, a passenger terminal that can ferry around 30 million people a year, some 25,000 square meters of retail food stores, and a beautiful mosque.
Other than its general public facilities, one of the most attractive parts of the airport is its Emiri Terminal. Covering an area of 12,000 square meters, the said terminal is only used by the Royal Family and other VIPs. President Duterte is expected to set foot in this terminal during his arrival on the eve of April 14, after his trips to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Kingdom of Bahrain.
