President Benigno S. Aquino III held a business meeting with executive officials of Sanofi, a European pharmaceutical company, led by Senior Vice President in Asia Region Jean-Luc Lowinski at the Philippine Embassy in Beijing, People’s Republic of China.
In their meeting, the group discussed Sanofi’s progress in developing a dengue vaccine for affected towns in the Philippines. They also shared views on how better healthcare services and healthcare coverage can contribute to the country’s economic growth. They discussed how innovation in healthcare services can play a major role to yield government savings.
Lowinski also lauded the President’s move for his support in the sin tax bill that will not only discourage people to smoke but also assures the government of additional revenue. He also expressed to the President his enthusiasm for next year’s APEC Summit which will be hosted by the Philippines.
Joining Mr. Lowinski’s side were Michael Swanson, Head of Public Affairs, Asia; Helen Yan, Vice President, Corporate Development China & Asia; Darwin Mariano, ASEAN Public Affairs Director, Sanofi; Kathryn Clemans, Senior Director, C&M International; Michael Schmitz, Senior Consultant, C&M International; and Frank Ju, Sanofi Director of Regional Security Asia.
Sanofi is a one of Europe’s largest pharmaceutical companies based in Paris, France. It has also engaged in research, development, manufacturing and marketing of innovative therapeutic solutions.
