After visiting Naga City and the towns of Tinambac and Calabanga in Camarines Sur, President Benigno S. Aquino III’s last stop was in the municipality of Libmanan to meet with Camarines Sur 2nd District local government leaders and residents.
The President reported successful government social service programs such as the country’s rice self-sufficiency before the end of 2013, the construction of 66,800 additional classroom buildings all over the country and the 3.9 million beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program in which an estimate of 108,000 recipients belong to the CamSur province.
He also mentioned the P30 million budget allocation for the reconstruction of Sabang and San Vicente ports, the rehabilitation of Naga-Legaspi Commuter Train Service that will benefit almost 2,200 commuters every day and the restoration of the airport in Daraga, Albay.
President Aquino told the Bicolano voters of CamSur District 2 that the bright future of their province and the whole country are in their hands on May 13. He added that success and development will continue only if the right leaders will be the partners of his administration. In local dialect, the President stated, ”Dai kayang negaran: Sa lambang Pilipino man guiraray naghahali ang kusog kan pagbabago. Ipagdagos ta an napunan tang laban. Tara na asin isulong ta ang matanos na dalan paduman sa dakulang kauswagan digdi sa Camarines Sur asin sa bilog na nasyon.” (Hindi magbabago: Sa bawat Pilipino pa rin manggagaling ang lakas ng pagbabago. President Benigno S. Aquino III joined the members and delegates of the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII) for the opening of their 29th Biennial Convention with the theme “Tuwid na Daan towards Peace, Unity and Prosperity” held at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.
In his speech, the President thanked the FFCCCII for all their assistance to the victims of calamities, as well as for their medical missions, scholarship grants and building of classrooms. “We are all for your success. You pave the way for the success of others. The Filipinos or your fellow Filipinos that you employ are empowered to earn decent livelihoods and make life better for themselves, their families, and the greater society as a whole. I believe that the success of any business can only be truly sustainable when it is free from unnecessary, avoidable risks and threats — when it takes place only because of your hard work, creativity, and ability to adapt to the needs of your consumers,” President Aquino said.
He also appealed to the FFCCCII members to fulfill their civic duties of paying the right amount of taxes before April 15 of this year.
During the event, President Aquino witnessed the presentation of a Plaque of Recognition to outgoing FFCCCII President Tan Ching by Dr. Lucio Tan.
FFCCCII is one of the largest organization of Filipino-Chinese businessmen created with a mission to unite the Chinese-Filipino community, promote growth of businesses, and implement social welfare projects for the nation’s development and progress

President Benigno S. Aquino III led the 116th Philippine Army anniversary celebration held at the Headquarters Philippine Army in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.
In his message, the President mentioned several initiatives that the government is undertaking to modernize its equipment under the Armed Forces of the Philippines Modernization and Capability Upgrade Program. Among these are the acquisition of one dozen five-ton troop carrier trucks, newly acquired Night Fighting System, four light support watercrafts and 60 units of field ambulance. He also mentioned the AFP/PNP Housing Program that the government is pushing for to improve the living conditions of more than 24,000 armed forces personnel.
“Lahat po ng ito ay kongkretong kumakatawan sa ating batayang prinsipyo: Ang giting, sakripisyo, at kahandaan ninyong isubo ang sarili sa panganib ay dapat tumbasan ng karampatang kalinga at pagkilala mula sa estado,” he said.
The President also mentioned several notable accomplishments that the Philippine Army was able to deliver over the past year such as the 255 development projects which include 16 roads, 237 buildings, two power and telephone facilities, on top of the 260 medical and 1,000 dental missions they had undertaken.
“Sa harap ng pakikipagbayanihan ninyong ito, nakikita natin ang katotohanang hindi lamang armas ang magdadala ng seguridad sa ating mga komunidad: Ang tunay na estabilidad, na nagbubunsod ng pag-unlad, ay nanggagaling sa tiwala ng taumbayan,” he added.
President Aquino also led the awarding ceremony in recognizing the exemplary contributions of several army personnel and civilian stakeholders. He also gave recognition to the oldest living army veteran, retired Technical Sergeant Anquiliano Cabiles who is turning 113 years of age this year.
Joining the President were Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin, AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Emmanuel Bautista, Philippine Army Commanding General Noel Coballes and Philippine National Police Director General Alan Purisima.

President Benigno S. Aquino III conferred the Order of Sikatuna with the Rank of Datu (gold distinction) to outgoing Asian Development Bank (ADB) President Haruhiko Kuroda in a courtesy call in Malacañang.
Kuroda, who served as ADB President and Chairperson of its Board of Directors since 2004, submitted his resignation from ADB effective March 18, 2013. He will next serve as Governor of the Bank of Japan as a result of the nomination done by the Cabinet of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. He graduated from Tokyo University and the University of Oxford, and has also served as Japan’s Vice Minister of Finance for International Affairs.
Under Kuroda’s management, ADB has helped the Philippine government to achieve high and sustainable growth, and supported the country in various programs and projects on infrastructure, environment, education and public sector management.

27th Anniversary of the Presidential Security Group (PSG)

President Benigno S. Aquino III joined officers and staff of the Presidential Security Group (PSG) as they celebrated their 27th anniversary in Malacanang Park.
In his speech, President Aquino thanked the PSG for their efforts and dedication to protect his life and the lives of his family, as well as the institution he serves. He also commended the PSG for their bravery for the past 27 years.
“Hindi tayo aabot sa puntong ito kung wala ang bawat isa sa inyo. Sa bawat sandali ng tagumpay natin sa tuwid na daan, nandiyan kayo; kasama kayo sa gumawa ng pagbabagong tinatamasa ngayon ng sambayanang Pilipino,” the President said.
He expressed his endless gratitude to the security group but also called on them to continue giving their best, expecting the PSG will continue to assist him in his efforts to give a better future for the country.
During the celebration, President Aquino also led the awarding of plaques of recognition to outstanding PSG officers for their services and to outstanding individuals who assisted the group during presidential coverages.

Inaugural Drive-Through of the Bocaue Bridge and Approaches
March 1st, 2013Public Works and Highways Undersecretary Alfredo Tolentino briefed the President on the bridge that will not only ensure safety and ease the traffic flow in the area but will also improve the level of service of the Manila North Road.
The widening and upgrading of the 4-lane bridge that was completed in December last year has a length of 67.10 linear meters, replacing the old 2-lane bridge. It is set to significantly reduce travel time to and from Manila and Pampanga from 180 minutes to 150 minutes, benefitting 1,600 motorists per day.
Bocaue Bridge is part of the over-all improvement of the Manila North Road to ease critical bottlenecks as the region copes with fast-growing economic activities. The total project cost amounted to P57.42 million.
Inaugural Drive-Through of the Plaridel Bypass Road

President Benigno S. Aquino III led the inaugural drive-through of the Plaridel Bypass Road Contract Package II.
Designed to ease the traffic at the Maharlika Highway that leads to Cagayan Valley region and to decongest traffic at the Pan-Philippine Highway, the road is part of the upgrade of the inter-urban highway system along the Philippine-Japan Friendship Road.
The Plaridel Bypass Road project has a total length of 24.61 km with 2.40 km of access road and ten bridges. It navigates through the municipalities of Balagtas, Guiguinto, Plaridel, Bustos and San Rafael in Bulacan. With the completion of the road, travel time from Burol to the towns of Balagtas to San Rafael will be reduced to 45-50 minutes.

President Benigno S. Aquino III welcomed the top officials of the Energy Development Corporation (EDC) and Vestas Wind Systems in a courtesy call held in Malacañang.
Among them were EDC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Federico Lopez and Vestas President and Chief Executive Officer Ditlev Engel.
EDC has recently appointed Vestas to be the supplier for its Burgos Wind Project in Ilocos Norte. The latter will be providing 29 V90-3 MW turbines for the construction of the largest wind farm in the country amounting to P87 million.
Vestas Wind Systems supplies wind power solutions to a number of energy corporations around the world. Its information technology hub in the country is one of its four IT global centers including Denmark, Singapore and the USA.
Also present in the call were Energy Secretary Carlos Jericho Petilla and Trade and Industry Secretary Gregory Domingo.

President Benigno S. Aquino III together with the EDSA People Power Commission (EPPC) hosted the Tatak EDSA: Salo-Salubungang Pambata at the Kalayaan Grounds, Malacañang.
In his message, President Aquino called for the new generation to always make the right choice and not to repeat the same mistakes committed during the martial law.
“Ngayon ngang nagtagumpay na tayo at malaya sa diktador, inaasahan naming kayong kabataan, pati na ang susunod na henerasyon na gawin ang tama sa lahat ng oras… Ang hiling ko lang: magpakabait kayo at ingatan ninyo ang ipapamana naming malaya at marangal na pamumuhay,” he said.
Still a part of the 27th EDSA People Power Revolution anniversary, the event gathered 1,000 kids from different orphanages where they hanged pledge cards as a sign of their commitment to the country. The event was also attended by International Children’s Peace Prize awardee Kesz and different personalities in the local entertainment industry.
Gift packs which consist of toys, snacks and school materials were also distributed to the children from different participating sponsors.
