President Benigno S. Aquino III received Asian Development Bank (ADB) President Haruhiko Kuroda in a courtesy call at the Premier Guest House in Malacanan. ADB has recently approved a $400-million loan supporting the conditional cash transfer program of the government known as the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps). Implemented by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), the 4Ps will provide financial support to more than half a million of the poorest families in the country who will comply with the conditions set on child and maternal health care, health care and school enrollment/attendance of young children and monthly family development sessions of parents.
Present in the courtesy call were Finance Secretary Cesar Purisima, ADB Country Director Neeraj Jain and other ADB officials.
