President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo flies to Seoul, South Korea on May 30 for an official visit with the objective of charting a new direction for a strategic and mutually-beneficial future, in terms of trade and economic relations.

South Korea and the Philippines have been strong allies through out the years, having fought both military wars and wars on poverty together for the last six decades.

From a brief stay in Seoul, President Arroyo proceeds on May 31 to Jeju Island at the south most part of Korea where the highlight of the president's visit will be the commemoration summit in celebration of the 60-year relation of the two countries, and their dynamic participation in the ASEAN-ROK dialogues.(VGT/RJU)
