52nd Ramon Magsaysay Awards

President Benigno S. Aquino III graced the 52nd Ramon Magsaysay Awards (RMA) honoring seven (7) most outstanding individuals and organizations in Asia. The 2010 RMA recipients are Filipino couple Christopher Bernido and Ma. Victoria Carpio-Berdino for their commitment to provide low-cost and effective basic education in the field of science, Tadatoshi Akiba of Japan for his anti-nuclear campaign, Huo Daishan of China for his unrelenting efforts to save the China’s Huai River, A.H.M. Noman Khan of Bangladesh for pioneering leadership in mainstreaming persons with disability, Pan Yue and Fu Qiping of China for promoting pro-environmental programs to be their country’s main agenda. The awardees received a certificate of recognition and cash prize worth US$50,000.00 (approx. PhP2.25 million). The prestigious Ramon Magsaysay Award is widely regarded as Asia’s equivalent of the Nobel Prize.
